Hello configuration gurus,
Many companies have different item/part numbers to the describing drawing/document numbers.
- Do you mark part/item number and revision on your manufactured items? While we do not build by revision we feel it neccessary to receive parts and inspect by revision.
- How do you let manufacturing know which part number and revision number to mark, especially if manufacturing is outsourced and they do not have access to your PLM/ERP system?
- Do you add it to one or all of the describing documents?
- Something else. (if so what)
If we add part revision to describing documents, then we are forced to revise every document where part number/version is reported, whenever the part is revised, even if the change does not affect the document. Which seems like a bad idea.
