custom icons and custom actions are not being displayed in custom tab
Hi,
I created a custom Tab (similar to Search and Browse). I created two actions under this new tab. I mapped images for these navigation actions in netmarkets folder. I modified the custom-actions and custom actionModels files accordingly. I also created a Resource Bundle file. On executing the code, I am able to see the new custom Tab (PLM Tab). I can see the actions under it (One and Three) but their icons are not getting displayed. I also gave actions when a user clicks on One and Three, but even these actions are not displayed. Please help me resolve this issue.

What Windchill api's needed to modify existing wtpart structure?
I have successfully created a wtpart structure in Windchill by using WTPartUsageLink.newWTPartUsageLink(). Now I want to modify that structure by either deleting an existing component or by changing the quantity of an existing component. Can someone point me in the correct direction as to what api(s) I need to use to accomplish this?
Existing structure:
wtPartAssembly
- wtPartComponent1
- qty = 1
- wtpartComponent2
- qty = 3
What api(s) needed to delete wtPartComponent1 and change wtPartComponent2 qty to 1?

Cognos error - RQP-DEF-0177 An error occurred while performing operation 'sqlScrollBulkFetch' status='-232'
Hi All,
I have a strange Cognos error that PTC is having a hard time diagnosing. I have Cognos installed correctly and double checked all of the db.properties. We have Windchill cluster environment 10.2 M030 CPS 09. Cognos is installed in other node which is not a part of Windchill cluster.
I can also successfully login to Cognos's web UI and update the model/load reports. Authentication works fine as well.
1. All QML reports are working fine.
2. Infoengine reports with less data is working fine but when we are trying to run report with (50k rows), it's working for 200 rows, it's failing with below error:-

Windchill DAO methods and Exceptions should be documented
Ever since I started working with the DAO service it is one big struggle.
The whole DAO webservice seems so badly documented, that even professionals in PTC support don´t get it to work. For example recently received following answer to a question of mine:
"I didn´t get my DAO to work so far, because I still got the "INSTANCE"-problem and therefor couldn´t test the solution I am proposing".
My situation with the DAO service is as follows:
I am basically just a Windchill-consumer with no access to the server itsself.
Whenever I call the methods contained in the DAO-class I get pretty server-specific Exception descriptions like "
wt.util.WTException: java.lang.ClassCastException: wt.content.ApplicationData cannot be cast to wt.vc.wip.Workable". The Exception itsself (no matter what Exception) is always of type Exception, though. So there is no way to catch the Exceptions specifically, investigate the cause and solve the problem.
This is pretty much unsatisfying.
Another thing is, that parameters given to many of the methods must be a sepcific String, to trigger some specific action, but the proper Strings are not documented, either.
Anyone struggling with any similar problems using DAO?

Renaming multiple objects with progressive numbers, all at once
Hello,
I would like to rename a set of objects in Windchill with progressive numbers (Cxxxx_1, Cxxxx_2, etc. etc.), all at once with a single command (the number of the objects is very high, so would be infinite to do it manually).
I know that the rename command (label icon) in the rename window can rename multiple objects for example with the same string, but I don't know how to set the progressive number (which would go according to the order objects are listed in the list, tmuch importance on this anyway).
Anyone knows if it is possible?

Site Status Change Notification - No Reponse from Site
I have Windchill 10.2 installed across two Linux Servers (Front End and Back End Server). I would like to enable the local server firewalls on the FrontEnd and BackEnd servers but when I do the Windchill randomly stops responding and I receive a "Site Status Change Notification" message saying Vaults "defaultsystemvault,defaultuploadvault" contained in this site are inaccessible because site status is "METHOD SERVER NOT RESPONDING". After 5 minutes I receive another "Site Status Change Notification" message saying that the site is reponding normally again and can continue to use the application normally. When the local server firewalls are disabled the application works perfectly with no problems.
Does anyone know why I am receiving this error or have a working set of the local Linux firewall rules that I can see as an example?

Does anyone know how to migrate softypes from a test system to a production system?
I've used LoadFromFile to export my SoftType & the result is 3 files, SoftType_0.xml, SoftType_1.xml, & SoftType_2.xml.
I then copy those files to my production server, and again, use LoadFromFile to import.
The files SoftType_0.xml & SoftType_1.xml are imported properly without any errors.
The file SoftType_2.xml hangs for hours without completing.
I've made sure the global attributes used in this soft type already exist.

Prohibit document publishing
We have a few office documents that are huge (hundreds of MB) and they constantly make the document publish worker crash. Is there a way to prevent certain wtdocument from being sent to document publisher? I know this is very easy to do with CAD but our problem is specific documents.
I am trying with PTC support but no luck yet.

Color coded parts and documents to help the user
We have color coded parts and document types in Windchill. This is a way to show access right responsibility in a very user friendly manner. It is very easy to do, but it is not used widely for some reason. You only change the picture icon in the part (or document) definition. The picture below shows different types of parts in a structure at the structure tab. This will enhance the rolls, in my case, the project. Electronic engineers owns the green onces and Mechanics the gray. Yellow is own by a third party. If the structure is to be released, and that parts are not good enough, we can easy see how is behind schedule.
Is there any more possibilities like this that I have missed out on?
PTC: Why is the icon stated above not used in the Workspace. My green electrical parts turns gray when part is downloaded... annoying.

Generate a Report and store in the Windchill location for the users to refer
Dear Experts,
We have object type which is used for generating a number and specific details into it.
The New "object" creation and viewing is restricted to majority of the users due to the performance impact as the object type created is 10000 +, Meanwhile, they would need the report of object and description for reference.
I was thinking if I can store the report with Number and Description and other information into a specific location in Windchill and therefore users have the access to view.
The report can be ran everyday and replaced with newer report.
Any idea how we can achieve this ?

Windchill Selenium
Hi,
I am trying to create automated testing system for the Windchill using selenium.
I am facing an issue, when I click on new part icon sometimes it pops up 2 window instead of 1 and some time it pops up Windchill Login dialog along with pop up.
What could be the issue?
This behavior is random.
