We are wondering if anyone can share a packaged scripting (SQL, QueryBuilder, Info*Engine, PSM Extension...?), for capturing Content Download Count and Content Download Size for EPMDocument 3D, EPMDocument 2D and WTDocument Items which were created over a particular period of time (daily, weekly or a specific range of hours, ...)
This is for monitoring purpose and this can be finally embedded within either (or both) PSM and WBR (Windchill Business Reporting a.k.a Cognos)

Windchill is currently only used for CAD data management at Edwards (Windchill 10.2 M020, Creo 3.0 M060).
Windchill is on state of the art servers and user workstations are high end, but Windchill is very slow for some users some of the time. In general, the network is very capable and fast. No specific reason identified yet.
I've been asked to put measurement tools in place and methodically see what can be done. We now have:
- PTC System Monitor installed and monitoring production
- PTC standard world car dataset in production
- A few key users lined up to do performance testing in order to trend / compare
I spent most of today on the available tools to automate the performance testing - with pretty good success. Getting good support on this from EDC. Able now to create / register workspace, import data, upload, checkin, checkout, export, etc., with log files recording the times.

So, question - has anyone else used these tools to automate Creo user actions with Windchill using this approach? I'd like very much to compare notes. Happy to share what I've got with anyone interested.
It seems like the ultimate for this would be to automate the test, record the results using PSM, then analyze a PSM session exported for the single testing user.
I know that there are some other discussions on this same topic, but I had a few questions for which I could not find answers.
Our Windchill vault is around 1.7 TB in size with master and 9 replica servers scattered around the globe.
Our backup procedure is as follows for the master server.
Since the partial backup is around 900GB, it has started choking our network when taking a backup and extends into our regular working hours, causing problems to other business applications.
Once a month we remove the unreferenced files but that does not improve the situation much.
We have set the property wt.fv.fvFileThreshold=50000. So our current mastervault_Folder sequence is 110 and that of the cache vault is 15. All the previous folders from 1 to 109 on master and 1 to 14 on cache vault are set to Read only by Windchill.
I have noticed that even though the the folders are read only, files are being removed from these locations when we run the utility to remove the unreferenced file.
So here are my questions.

I am able to view few ECNs in the UI but when I log on to the database and check their entries in WTChangeOrder2 table it is not there. However the same entry is there in WTChangeOrder2Master. Can someone please explain why is this happening? I have written a JSP to display this information and there is a confusion on this.
I want to create two number sequences for different objects-
1. Number sequence should be like
A00001 -A99999
then
B00000- B99999
Then
......
Z00001-Z99999
2. Number sequence should be like
A1
then
B2
then
C3
...
Z26
A sequence can be created for number instrumentation by using "exec wtpk.createSequence('sequence name', initial value, increment);" but what about alphabets and their concatenation with numbers?

Is there is a way, to get the username with slave node in windchill . For example Username@sl01
We need to configure a business process in which we are using the Default "Promotion Request Approval Process" that is available OOTB. We want to stop the users from selecting themselves as an Approver in the Promotion Process.
PTC Tech support said this isn't possible. But doesn't this kill the process by itself? When the process isn't fool proof to stop the user selecting himself as an approver what is the use of it then? Is this achievable through any configuration options?

i'm in trouble with Windchill. when I try to check in some file, we got an unexpected error as you can see below.
We have scenario in which we should not be able to add WTDocument objects of P0,P1..... versions using "add promotion objects" action (In New promotion Request wizard).
or Promotion request Wizard should not go to next step if there are WTDocument objects of P0,P1..... versions available in Promotion objects table.
Please help.
Are there any issues with using a common email address when setting up multiple users? We have many employees who do not use email in Manufacturing and don't even have an email account. The system Help has "features that enable search, create privileges, and assign members" listed as things that requires an email. What exactly does that mean? I created a test user with no email and didn't have any issues searching. I'm interested in how the email address affects or limits the user. Thanks.

I'm new to fault trees & have not used PTC Windchill software before. I'm using PTC Windchill Quality Solutions 10.2 Team Edition.
I have entered all of the data into my fault tree, but notice that some of the gate descriptions have too much text in them. This makes the report hard to read as the text is cut off.
Is there a way to change the default size of the icons so the text will be readable?
The easiest thing would be to use less text in the gate description field, but the fault tree is so complex it gets difficult distinguishing the gates from one another...
Suggestions?
I'm currently working on a new Change Request sub-type. I've added a pile of attributes to Change Request type and I want to customize the layout.
Making a new layout was easy enough. Making groups within the layout was also easy. Upon testing I figured I could make a couple of columns for these attributes. The attribute in the left column will contain the standard choices for the product. The attributes in the right column would be an entry cell in case none of the standard choices were applicable.
However, there doesn't seem to be a way to insert a blank line in the right column to get these linked attributes to line up properly. All attributes added to the right column always end up clumped up at the top.
While I know I could just push all the non-paired attributes to the bottom of the column, I'm trying to keep it more in line with the way users are accustomed to filling out the paper version of this form.
Is there an easy way to insert empty cells in that right side column that doesn't involve a bunch of customization?
